merican history (part IV)

This day was all about some of that American history stuff. That and driving across the state! aka: RRRROOOOAAAADDDD TTTTRRRRIIIIPPPP!!!!

//there's a little side story real quick. when we first got to virginia and were driving around i though to myself, "man, there sure are a lot of license plates that say virginia. crazy." and then i was like, "dang, i'm an idiot. we're in virginia." not my brightest hour\\

So the first stop on our caravan of history was Colonial Williamsburg. It was one of the first settlements clear back in the day when, you know, the first settlements were being settled. And even though my sunburn was putting me on the verge of miserable, I was having a real nice time looking at old buildings and stuff. Really though, it was cool.

And everywhere we went there were these really awesome old fences. They were all over and there was always bright green grass behind them. I liked them a lot.

//being all artistic next to the fence post\\

There were people dressed up acting out what really happened in a little town back then, and there were little shops filled with goodies and knick-nacks of the day. They had balls of soap in every store and they smelled like heaven. Someone could probably get high off of smelling that stuff. It was delicious.

Old buildings, old roads, old pictures, old people, old things. Old was everywhere.

//this is how i was feeling all day. blasted sunburn\\

So that was Williamsburg. Neat Skeet. Next up on the list was Jamestown. This place was cool because it was where John Smith and Pocahontas first met and what not. Tuns out the real story is nothing like the Disney version. LAME. Oh well. It was still interesting. Sort of.

//john smith whoop whoop\\

//pocahontas whoop whoop\\

The next piece of history we explored on the trip was Monticello. aka Thomas Jefferson's house. aka another really old thing. aka actually a cool house.

//and i didn't even know that this was on the back of the nickle. that is just the neatest thing i've ever even heard\\

\\he had a vineyard on his plantation. those are fun words to say. vineyard. plantation.\\

//we love thomas jefferson in statue form\\

//photo bombed to the extreme\\

And that was Monticello! Really nothing to it other than a house. A house where Thomas Jefferson Lived. He wrote the Declaration of Independence by the way. But of course everyone knows that.

Then we drove all the way to Lexington. Our day of travel/old stuff was a good one. Nice and informative, just how I like my merican history.

ps..... there are fireflies in Virginia!!! Real live fireflies. They are the funkiest bugs ever.

//see his little glowish butt? what a happy little guy\\
